Information that you should know
For GRMC employees who are seeking project funding from outside foundations or government funders:
Mission
Genesys Health Foundation (GHF) directs income from charitable gifts and grants to address a broad range of community healthcare needs in order to bring the latest and best medical care to our community. It enables Genesys Health System (GHS) to be creative in designing care solutions tailored to those served, and improve access to healthcare services for those who are underserved.
Rationale
Genesys Health Foundation (GHF) is responsible for administering all grants to Genesys Health System (GHS). The required process for all grant writing initiatives at Genesys is to direct grant dollars through the foundation. This requirement is in place to:
Ensure project alignment with the GHS mission and strategic plan;
Assist applicants to write a successful proposal;
Coordinate applications to funding sources to ensure non-duplication of services;
Ensure proper project/budget accountability;
Create a complete profile of all grant funded initiatives;
Allow consistent communication about grants system-wide;
Grant Proposal Preparation Assistance Process
GRMC employees wishing to apply for grant funding must notify GHF electronically of their plans. This process will occur whether you are requesting writing assistance from GHF, or you will write the proposal independently.
When you submit a request for grant writing assistance to GHF, please remember that GHF is in a six month pilot phase of this new service. The pilot phase will allow the foundation to collect data to determine the volume of requests that we can expect and create the capacity to address them. GHF will work with you to the best of its capacity to honor your request.
Grant writing is a collaborative process between the principal investigator (PI) and the grant writer. Grant writers and organization representatives bring different sets of skills and expertise to write a proposal that creatively meets the funding criteria of a foundation, as well as the specific program goals of the applicant organization. A division of labor is defined based on expertise. The grant writer will facilitate the writing process and the PI will provide content specific to the project.
